Middle Leadership: the art of success

Middle Leaders are the engine of a successful school, directly impacting on the quality of learning in the classroom. New initiatives have added to the job, with data analysis, target setting and performance management all requiring new skills. How should a leader be both challenging and supportive?

This intense interactive course will develop the skills and confidence of your middle leaders, with practical techniques and strategies for the more challenging aspects of the job, such as addressing underperformance, managing challenging colleagues, coaching, motivation and giving critical feedback.

Who is it suitable for?

This course is aimed at those who aspire to a leadership and management role, whether of teaching or support staff; those who have been recently appointed and experienced heads of department/subject leaders in both primary and secondary sectors who would like to be updated on the recent initiatives and refresh their skills. 

What will you learn?

Skills and confidence in key aspects of leadership, from team building and delegation to addressing challenging issues of underperformance and resistance to change. How the style of leadership you adopt needs to vary according to individual circumstances and the professional maturity of your team members.
